The first step towards Invisalign is an initial consultation that Dr. Brown is happy to offer free of charge!ย
During this appointment, weโll discuss your orthodontic needs and decide whether Invisalign is the right treatment choice for you. Once we determine youโre a good fit for the system, we begin the process of custom designing aligners specific to your smile.ย
A highly detailed 3D scan of your teeth and gums will be performed in our office. This scan is then used to map out a precise treatment plan for you. This plan will include the exact movements we want your teeth to make, as well as how long your treatment is likely to take. You may even get the chance to preview your new smile!ย
From this 3D scan, your custom aligners will be created from Invisalignโs special SmartTrackยฎ material. The comfortable plastic trays are virtually invisible, and the total number worn during treatment is usually somewhere between 10 and 48, with the total treatment time averaging between 5 and 15 months. In order to maximize their effectiveness, youโll need to wear the aligners for 20-22 hours daily, throughout the course of treatment.ย
During treatment, you will switch to a new set of aligners every one to three weeks based on your treatment plan. We will schedule check-ups about every four to eight weeks
Invisalign realigns your teeth by using a series of custom-made plastic aligners created specifically for your unique bite and teeth misalignment. For optimal comfort, aligner trays are made out of a smooth, invisible plastic material. The aligner trays go over your teeth and gradually shift your teeth without the need of metal brackets or tight wires.
Like any orthodontic treatment, if you want the treatment to work, you will need to commit to a regimen. For a more successful treatment, you should abide by the following:
Putting in extra effort to wear your aligner trays for the allotted time will help your treatment remain efficient.
Invisalign and traditional braces both serve the same function of straightening out your smile. When it comes to choosing between traditional braces and clear aligners, each treatment has its own unique advantages.
With traditional braces, metal brackets are glued to the teeth, then fastened together with wires and small rubber bands. As you can imagine, metal colored brackets and wires are not a discreet orthodontic option, and they canโt be removed from the mouth for eating and cleaning.
